Introduction

Joursy ("we", "our", or "us") is a travel planning application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Joursy mobile app, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are committed to being transparent about our data practices.

By using Joursy, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Your name and email address
  • A password (stored as a secure hash — we never store plain-text passwords)
  • Profile information you optionally provide

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We do not receive your Google password.

Trip and itinerary data

We store the trips, itineraries, and travel preferences you create in the app, including:

  • Destination cities, travel dates, and trip duration
  • Interest categories, travel pace, transport mode, and budget preferences
  • Generated day-by-day itineraries

Saved places and collections

We store the places you save and the collections (lists) you create, so your favorites are available across sessions and devices.

Location data

With your permission, Joursy accesses your device location to show saved places near you and to improve routing suggestions. Location is only accessed when the app is in use and you have explicitly granted permission. We do not track your location in the background or store a history of your location.

Device and notification data

If you enable push notifications, we store a device token to send you notifications about your trips. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

Usage data

We collect basic usage information such as app crashes, error logs, and feature interactions to improve reliability and performance. This data is not linked to personally identifiable information where avoidable.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and maintain your account
  • Generate personalized travel itineraries based on your preferences
  • Show you points of interest and routing relevant to your trips
  • Sync your saved places and collections across sessions
  • Send you notifications you have opted into
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues in the app
  • Respond to your support requests

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

Data Sharing

We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers

We use third-party services to operate Joursy. These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it:

  • Expo Push Notifications — push notification delivery
  • Google Places API — point of interest data and place details
  • Google Maps / Routes API — routing and travel time calculations
  • OpenRouter / Google Gemini — AI-assisted itinerary generation
  • Resend — transactional email delivery
  • Microsoft Azure — cloud hosting for our backend API

Legal requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Joursy, our users, or the public.

Data Retention

We retain your account data and trip history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Withdraw consent for location access or push notifications at any time via device settings
  • Object to certain processing of your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@joursy.app.

Children's Privacy

Joursy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you through the app or by email.
